@Walt: Thanks Walt - another lucky find - such a green creature lurking under geramium leaves - I spend my days checking under leaves! :) @Rags: Thanks Rags your visits are very welcome indeed!!!! {H} creatives from Santa Clara, United StatesAmazing capture! Just amazing! How in the world did you capture this guy, I don't know...but this shot is just marvelous, Bron! Cheers... 8 Jul 2007 4:52am @{H} creatives: You're so kind {H}!! I lifted a geramnium leaf there he was! So I used the macro and manual focus, fortunately he sat there so still and co-operated! In the computer I think I adjusted contrast and cropped a little! Have a great day cheers Bron SusanPEI from CanadaI love this picture. The element of surprise and all made me laugh when it appeared on the screen. Totally unique. Took me awhile to figure out the creature is looking at us upsidedown. A praying mantis? 8 Jul 2007 2:31pm Bron from Canberra, AustraliaYes indeed Susan! With extremely clingy feet! I'm glad it made you laugh :) 8 Jul 2007 2:39pm Charisse Farr from Brisbane, Australianice capture, bron! good eye to see him in the midst of the leaves! 9 Jul 2007 1:49am @Charisse Farr: Thanks Charisse - my new hobby is photographing beautiful fungi so I'm always poking around in the folliage!! @Anup: Thanks Anup! @damon: Thanks Damon - part luck, part my new camera! @mat: They're wonderful creatures - so aware of our presence! Thanks! SusanPEI from Canadahey Bron, check this out.... 17 Jul 2007 3:27am @SusanPEI: Thanks for the link Susan - sorry I took time answering - my computer hard drive was faulty and crashed - luckily we'd backed up the photos!! Do you get preyiing mantis where you live? They turn up here at times and are alway welcome they're so interesting! I liked the other photo! cheers SusanPEI from CanadaI've never seen one in person although I think they are supposed to be here. I've looked all my life with no success. They seem to be remarkably plentiful elsewhere as here is yet another one. http://craiger.aminus3.com/image/2007-07-20.html 21 Jul 2007 3:58am @SusanPEI: Thanks both for the link and encouragement to keep posting! It's a great discipline to have to choose one a day instead of flooding the blog. Nice pic of the mantis.. do you have a blog and are you the same Susan I met on the Picasa album site? Stu from Kyoto, JapanThis is fantastic! The clarity of the Mantis's head is amazing. 22 Jul 2007 2:13pm @Stu: Glad you like it Stu - it was looking at me VERY closely! cheers SusanPEI from CanadaYes, I am Susan from Picassa. Still more pictures of mantis. http://zingphotography.aminus3.com/image/2007-06-04.html 25 Jul 2007 3:26am @SusanPEI: Hello! I recognised your style - the colours, a softness and often beautiful thoughtful landscapes Lovely photos! it's a good forum here isn't it? Thanks for the tip - I'll do that I think - it'd give me more scope to consider ahead and maybe change my mind!! SusanPEI from CanadaYou are welcome. This is a great forum. Thanks so much for introducing me to it. Would not have known it existed if you hadn't. Wow, I have a style? Just doing what comes naturally. Thanks for the comments. 25 Jul 2007 1:32pm @SusanPEI: I'm more than pleased Susan - I found it by accident (literally) my friend fell and her broken leg needed an operation. She's in an art group I run and was painting sunflowers, so I searched on google to find a picture of one to paint for her (in hospital - so far 7 weeks!) That led me to here! Isn't the 'net a wonderful idea! Photography's a bit like painting to me - your style eventually shines through, like yours! SusanPEI from CanadaVery interesting story. Hope your friend is on her feet again soon. The net is incredible. Makes the world a much smaller place in some ways. Certainly opens up new opportunities that wouldn't exist otherwise. I've met so many wonderful, talented, and interesting people on the net. 26 Jul 2007 1:00am @SusanPEI: Me too - from places I can hardly imagine... @miguel: I'm glad you like it miguel - thanks for your comment. :) |
