Waiting for olive oil...

@Shelley: Hi Shelley Thanks for your comment. The eggplants were under strong fluro lights at the market, and were the shiniest I'd ever seen, which is why I decided to take the shot. I didn't actually do much post production, only toning the almost pure white reflections by adding backlight. I probably adjusted the contrast and brightness. Mostly it was natural! cheer Bron

@damon: I've had it badly (horrible) but there's a recipe imam bayildi (the imam fainted) that's wonderful if done well. It's an eggplant cut down the middle and stuffed with onions, garlic, and tomatoes and then simmered in olive oil to cover. There are several apocryphal stories about the origins of the dish. The imam (Muslim prayer leader) fainted or swooned when he tasted how good it was or when he saw how much expensive olive oil was!! Who knows?? :)
