Lost Valley Views from Kamloops, CanadaWhoooa now that is close up.....it is quite the spider!!! 8 Oct 2007 5:40am @Lost Valley Views: Nice isn't it LVV? Sriram from Chennai, IndiaWow.... Scary for me! But superb detailing and DOF! VEry impressive Bron! 8 Oct 2007 6:12am @Sriram: Thanks for the kind words Sriram! Don't be scared it won't hurt you! :) @Inés: Thanks so much Inés - I hope you can speak again soon.... @ColNed Pictures: Thanks ColNed - that's what attracted me to it by the side of the road~ Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandThey don't scare me, I think they are beautiful in close-up. This one has lovely colours and really long legs! They have a special way of making their webs. Overhere there is one spider, that makes the same webs ... the St. Andrew's cross spider. They also call them writing spiders, due to the unique patterns that they build in their webs. 8 Oct 2007 8:22am @Monique: I agree Monique! Yes I looked it up and it's the same - a type of St Andrew's Cross spider. I've never heard them called writing spiders - what a great name! Thanks for telling me that! @badala: Thanks badala - I'm very pleased that you like it! @DIMITRIOS: Cheers from the Ozzies Dimitrios!! rainsocks from SingaporeWhat a spider!! Thanks for sharing, coz' there's no chance I'll ever come so close to that spider... I usually run away as fast as I can!!! But it's really one beautiful spider... 8 Oct 2007 9:10am @rainsocks: I'm not afraid of spiders at all - and we have the most poisonous ones in the world I think. They're really predictable and so diverse!! Eleftheria, 9 years old, from Athens, GreeceIt's beautiful but little bit scary. 8 Oct 2007 11:13am @Eleftheria, 9 years old,: I think it's wise not to annoy them but looking closely's pretty safe Eleftheria. The more you learn about them the more predictable they are and then they're not scary!!
